Response to Applications
Our experienced solicitors regularly appear for Respondents (People facing a dvo) in Court all over Queensland in person or by telephone. Having us appear on your behalf can save you time, worry and unnecessary costs and unexplained consequences.
The system is designed around your Consenting to an Order without admissions (of wrong doing).
A DVO is not a criminal charge!
But you can lose your firearms licence and it may have other consequences like visa and residency consequences.
The Police and the Courts normally ask for standard conditions that you are to be of : 1) good behaviour; and 2) not to commit acts of domestic violence. Worse still, is that they may ask that you leave the premises you own. So get advice now.
Almost anything can be considered domestic violence.
You can consent to the making of a 5 year order without admissions to the reason alleged by the Police or your ex partner.
However, there are exceptions and a 2 year order can be negotiated in some circumstances.
